Rostock-Gdynia-Helsinki and more

After we left Italy we travelled all the way through Germany. I don't have pics of the trip, we hardly stopped, we never went to any camping we just slept in parking lots along the highway
when we were too tired to go on.
We arrived in Rostock on june 21st and lucky enough there was a ferry that same evening. It was the longer route germany-poland-finland but for us it was fine, we love sailing and we were very excited to spend almost three days on board.
We usually travel with Finnlines

Waiting at the harbour

Silly times !

Colours!

Sailing away !!

The next morning we stopped for two hours ( or three ? ) In Poland, at Gdynia harbour.
We took some pics from the ferry

We're in Poland !!!

14000

It is weird to be back in a 'home' after 2 months and half on the road. We all feel so unnatural to sleep in different rooms, not being in same place the 6 of us while sleeping, cooking, eating, laughing fighting singing reading learning .... every moment of every hour of every day.

We traveled for almost 14'000 km this time. We left from Rome on june the 12th and we arrived up to Nordkapp in Norway. We visited so many places, met old friends, got to know new friends. We told our story, we listened to other people's stories. It has been so great to be on the road for so long. Little by little I'll try to post all pics of all places, many of them. Let's get started.

We left from Rome during the night. Fabio had left in the morning after leaving our car in a garage in Rome, came back to Tuscany and back again in Rome to get me and the kids at my mom's. We traveled up to Bolsena lake and slept in a parking area for campers. Then the next night was spent near Firenze in a nice camping 'Il Poggetto' . Now a story about this. When we travel north we usually try to drive the Chiantigiana Road because we found out that Sting has a wonderful mansion there : Il Palagio . Back in april Gaia wanted to be driven there as a birthday present, just to see it and dream to meet her favourite singer. Since then we try to drive there when we can and we laugh and tell funny stories about how we can meet Sting, just being plain silly all of us :) Here a pic we took

In the morning we headed to Emilia Romagna.
Here our pic taken on the Muraglione Pass

It's a beautiful place, along a wonderful road , 67 statal road.
We arrived in Igea Marina where Leo and Seba wanted to celebrate their ninth birthday.
We went to this nice parking place for caravans ' Adriatico Parking' and spent few days enjoying ourselves, going to the beach and making friends with other people there. On 17th we celebrated Leo and Seba, with all the kids there. The children were so happy, a very different kind of birthday, but just the one they were dreaming

Breakfast together answering phone calls from Grandma

Flying kites ( birthday presents )

Leo and Seba and PapaF, my men

Cake time !! No homemade for them, just Ikea Cakes, but they worked out fine

And then .... ready for the beach !!!!

The day after the birthdya, june the 18th, we left Igea Marina. As we usually do, we simply started driving north, we never know exactly where we're going or stopping. We went on until we reached Garda lake and we spent the night in this camping . We found it very expensive and not nice at all, but it was only for one night so ...
Here a pic of us next morning before leaving, while having a walk around the lake

After Lazise we went through Brennero Pass and left Italy for around 10 weeks.
As soon as possible more pics and stories.

Fly Away Home - 10,000 Miles

Last time we watched this movie ( I mean before tonight ) it must have been some years ago.
It has been touching as usual. Maybe more.
And this song ... played some secret chord in me.
We're about to hit the road again.
We're about to change our life again.
We're about to fly away home, home, where the heart is.

Fare thee well
My own true love
Farewell for a while
I’m going away
But I’ll be back
Though I go 10,000 miles

10,000 miles
My own true love
10,000 miles or more
The rocks may melt
And the seas may burn
If I should not return

Oh don’t you see
That lonesome dove
Sitting on an ivy tree
She’s weeping for
Her own true love
As I shall weep for mine

Oh come ye back
My own true love
And stay a while with me
If I had a friend
All on this earth
You’ve been a friend to me

Bologna 17-19 august

We left Abbadia S Salvatore on august the 17th. After a short visit in Florence to meet the brand new baby girl ( 4 days old at the time ) of  a friend of ours we headed to Bologna. We arrived in the late evening and started looking for a camping. Call it a hard task. No sign anywhere. No. Actually we could find signs. A couple of them and then nothing. After a couple of hours of crazy driving, around midnight when we were ready to give up and go back in the highway to sleep in some parking lot we found ourselves in front of a camping !!  And a nice one ! So we decided to spend a couple of days there. We got even to know this wonderful french family with two kids. We were all so excited because the father was from Jamaica, when he told us we all screamed '' Wow a real Jamaican !!! Let's shake hands '' ( yep we can be all waaay silly ).
We even went downtown Bologna for a short walk.

In Bologna. It was soo hot !

Seba, Milla and Gaia wanted to go swimming in the camping swimming pool.

Shalom

Abbadia S. Salvatore 14-16 august

Once we left Rome we headed north and stopped for Ferragosto in  Abbadia S.Salvatore . The little town is a place we truly love. We usually go there to seek peace. To soak in the nature. To taste and enjoy the wonderful food. And more then this, the little town has a camper club, so all kind of facilities are available even if there's no camping at all over there.

Finally we're back in the woods !!

Barbeque !!!

YUMMI !!!!!!!!!!

Castelfusano. Where it all began. 5 august - 13 august

Daddy just arrived with our brand new very old motorhome

So this is our motorhome.
Life on the road is about to begin :)

Here we are, for the first time in a campsite. The camping it's not that bad. A bit too mundane for us, with discos and loud music on. And a bit too many ants in the showers. But beside this it was really ok.

Homeschooling. Done. Unschooling. Done. Camp-schooling. DONE. :))
( Oil and dirt make great colours )

Racing cars

I can't even describe the feeling I get every time I look at the kids while on the road.
It's just the six of. Raw us. Us, the way we are. Living on the road is such an incredible experience.
We lived on the road for nearly 3 months and 12000 km.

Milla loves hugging trees

Milla was a bit sad because we were leaving the camping and she had to say goodbye to the tree

Gaia, saying goodbye to the tree

Interesting !! ( See the camp-schooling part lol )

Ten Thousand Kilometers

This is the story of a journey. The story of two troubled hearts looking for peace and joy. The story of four brave children and their unusual childhood. This is our story. Ten Thousand Kilometers long.
 So far.
